CGAT provides training opportunities for researchers at post-doctoral level who are interested in genome and next-generation sequencing data analysis.

CGAT training

CGAT trainees are employed for three years as junior post-doctoral researchers. While with CGAT they collaborate with UK scientists on a variety of projects.

Working on different projects, trainees see genome analysis and next-generation sequence data analysis applied in many different contexts. All projects are scientific in nature and the trainee's contribution is rewarded by prominent authorship.

While working on a project, trainees are mentored by senior CGAT personnel with longstanding experience in genomic analyses. Additional training is provided via individual instruction, tutorials and lectures.

The principal areas of training are:

1. Designing and building complex analysis pipelines (scripting, databases, ...)
2. Analysis of next-generation sequencing data within a genomic context

Who is it for?

CGAT trains highly motivated candidates with a scientific background. Ideally, candidates should have a background in the life sciences, but candidates from other scientific areas are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate an interest in molecular biology and genomics.

CGAT traineeships are best suited to PhD students looking for their first post-doctoral position and post-doctoral researchers looking for their second post-doc.
